The ECI football team traveled to downtown Savannah Thursday night to take on Savannah High School. The Bulldogs left with a 37-0 win over the Bluejackets giving them their 41st consecutive loss.

Savannah High is known as a basketball powerhouse and are the reigning state champions. Unfortunately for the Bluejackets’ football teams and other public schools in Savannah, some of their better players over the years get pilfered by the several private schools in the area.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the first quarter Thursday. After taking the ball down to the ECI 12, the Jackets fumbled away their only legitimate scoring threat of the game. ECI marched 88 yards to put their first points on the board. Chase Johnson found a hole from one yard out to put the Bulldogs up 7-0. Tyler Foreman extended the Bulldog lead when he turned the corner on a 15-yard touchdown run. Jackson Kennedy’s kick was good to put the visiting Bulldogs up 14-0.

Later in the first half, in what looked like a defensive touchdown with a Bulldog defender falling on a fumbled ball in the endzone but was deemed a safety to extend the ECI lead 16-0. Tyler Foreman got his second touchdown of the game late in the second from 3 yards out to put ECI up 22-0 at the break.

With the younger players itching to get some playing time in the game, the Bulldog offense got them closer to entering the game on the first play of the third quarter. Jackson Kennedy hit Daon Bethea in stride for a 50-yard touchdown to put the Bulldogs up 29-0. Junior Ste’Kieven Sinkfield extended the Bulldogs lead from 4 yards out later in the second half to end the Bulldogs’ scoring.

As a team, the Bulldogs rushed for 238 yards against the Bluejackets. Tyler Foreman led the pack of 9 Bulldog runners with 122 yards on 11 carries with 2 touchdowns. Jackson Kennedy was 2-3 for 89 yards, both to Daon Bethea with a touchdown.

The Bulldogs will be back home this Friday for homecoming against the Panthers from Portal.
