Rountree Stadium will be packed with Bulldogs Friday night when the GMC Bulldogs visit Twin City. The ECI Bulldogs will host the GMC Bulldogs in the first round of the state playoffs. This is the fourth time the two Bulldog teams have faced each other. ECI has a 3-1 record against GMC when they were in the same region from 1992-1995 playing in region four.
GMC enters the state playoffs going 4-6 this season and the number 3 seed from region 5 with a 2-4 region record. ECI is the number two seed from region 3 with a 7-3 season and 7-1 region records. The Bulldogs from Milledgeville have scored 194 points this season for an average of 19.4 points per game. Their defense has given up 279 points or 27.9 per game. ECI scores an average of 30 points per game while the defense ranks in the top 10 in Class A division II giving up 15.7 points per game.
The winner of this game will advance to the second round and will play the winner of the Clinch Co. vs Chattahoochee Co. match-up. If Clinch wins, it’s a trip to Homerville for the second round for either team. If the 5-5 Panthers from Cusseta pull off the upset and defeat the 10-0 Panthers from Homerville, they would travel to ECI or GMC for the second round.
Kickoff for this Friday’s match-up against GMC is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
