Durden Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Bobbie Wilson Overstreet, 90, of Swainsboro, on Monday, May 27, 2024, at her home after an extended illness. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, May 30, at 11 a.m. at Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Reverend Tommy Henry officiating. Interment followed in the Bithynia Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Blundale. The family received friends Wednesday, May 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Donnie Cobb, Joe Wilson, Matt Donaldson, Tim Garrett, Joey Hood and Bill Rountree.

Born and raised in Emanuel County, Bobbie was the daughter of the late “T” Hudson Wilson and Ola Mae Peebles. Like many children of this time, she was a hard worker in the family home and on the farm. Mrs. Bobbie married Julian G. Overstreet on March 24, 1951. She was a wonderful cook and she enjoyed canning. Mrs. Bobbie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. People were drawn to her due to her kind and generous nature. Mrs. Bobbie was a “second mother” to many cousins, neighbors and close family friends. She worked at Swainsboro Primary School in the cafeteria for almost 28 years. Mrs. Bobbie was a faithful member of Oak Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years, and she loved gospel music. She loved her Facebook. It was important to her as a social person to keep in touch with all of her friends and family. Mrs. Overstreet is preceded in death her parents; her husband of 57 years, Julian G. Overstreet; four sisters, Helen Flanders, Margaret Hughes, Frankie Donaldson and Cybil Hall; and a daughter-in-law, Janice Lynn Overstreet.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane Rountree (Wayne) of Midville; sons, Jeffery Overstreet and Douglas W. (Angela) Overstreet, both of Swainsboro; grandson, Matt Thompkins (Kelly Boyett); and sister, Loretta Santiago of Louisville.
