Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Betty Jean Faircloth Oglesby, age 80, of Swainsboro, on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at her residence with her family by her side. Funeral service will be Thursday, July 6, at 3 p.m. at the United Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Paul Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Greenleaf Cemetery in the Kemp Community. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Danny Wayne Faircloth, David Faircloth, Hunter Oglesby, Mark Oglesby, Jamie Howell, Larry Morrison and Johnny Ray Stafford.

Mrs. Oglesby was born July 30, 1942, in Swainsboro, to the late Gordon and Nora Mae Price Faircloth. She was employed for twenty plus years at Miami Carey in Swainsboro. Betty Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed good food, spending time with her family and watching TV. She was married to the late Lewis Edward Oglesby for 63 years. Mrs. Oglesby is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Sammy Faircloth.

Survivors include her sons, Mark Oglesby (Libby) and Michael Oglesby, all of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Krystal Oglesby, Ashley Ann Oglesby, Kristie Baretteo, Hunter Oglesby and Raelyn Oglesby; sisters, Rebecca Faircloth Roghelia (Carl), Mary Sue Faircloth Snedaker (Ray), both from Swainsboro, and Brenda Faircloth Henry (Ronnie) of Waycross; sister-in-law, Joann Braddy of Summertown; nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family would like to express their deepest heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Community Hospice and Dr. Ray in Vidalia, and the United Primitive Baptist Church.
