Veterans meet at EGSC

Posted

The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting at the Richard Brown Cafeteria at East Georgia State College on Monday morning, October 23, at 9 a.m. for breakfast. EGSC hosted the Veterans for a great meal and Tre' Drummer presented his program on the African American Men Initiative (AAMI) and their accomplishments at our local college. Tre' also talked about his group being involved with the Veterans at the Library's main project, the "Wreaths Across America". Tre' then introduced Coach Theo Howard who gave us an update on EGSC athletics, and he also mentioned EGSC hosting a Military Appreciation Day game on November 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. for the "Veterans at the Library". Veteran Willie Robinson introduced his daughter, SPC Jade Robinson, who is a member of the U.S. Army's 335th Signal Command and lives in East Point. She was very excited about visiting her father and the rest of the Veterans at the Library. Chair Johnny Tapley thanked the cafeteria staff for a great breakfast and to EGSC for hosting our weekly breakfast. If you would like to purchase a wreath for a family veteran or just purchase a wreath for any veteran, please contact Shari Watt at the Franklin Memorial Library or her cell, 478-494-6276.
