Tigers fall to Dublin, 27–12

The 76th meeting between Swainsboro and Dublin added another chapter to their longstanding rivalry Friday night at the Shamrock Bowl. The Tigers competed throughout, but costly mistakes proved too much to overcome in a 27–12 loss.

Swainsboro dropped to 2–5 overall and 1–2 in Region 2-AA, despite showing encouraging stretches on both sides of the ball.

The Tigers’ defense delivered a solid effort for much of the night, keeping Swainsboro within striking distance. However, a few crucial breakdowns allowed big scoring plays that made the difference in an otherwise competitive battle.

Offensively, Swainsboro found opportunities but struggled to capitalize consistently. Joshua Gray’s rushing touchdown helped bring the Tigers within 14–6, and another promising drive put Swainsboro in position to potentially tie the game before halftime. A red-zone interception ended that threat, leaving the Tigers chasing the lead heading into the break.

Four turnovers interrupted Swainsboro’s efforts throughout the night, taking away valuable possessions and making a comeback more difficult.

Still, the Tigers continued to battle. Kyle Johnson broke loose for a long fourth-quarter touchdown run, cutting the deficit to nine points and providing a late spark. Jayden Wilcher added 53 receiving yards, contributing to the Tigers’ work through the air.

For Swainsboro, the night offered both positives to build upon and mistakes to address. The defense competed, the offense produced promising moments, and the Tigers remained in the fight. Turning those stretches into a complete performance will be important down the stretch.

Swainsboro has a bye on Friday, October 16, providing an opportunity to regroup before its final three region games.

The Tigers return to Tiger Field on Friday, October 23, 2026, for a homecoming and Region 2-AA matchup against Academy for Classical Education (ACE). Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Tiger Nation is encouraged to pack the stands and support the black and gold as Swainsboro looks to turn the page and get back on the winning track.
