The Swainsboro Rotary club met at the Rustic Grill for their weekly meeting on Monday, August 26. The meeting was called to order by President Zack Proctor, followed by the invocation and reciting the four-way test. A discussion followed about the upcoming Wounded Warriors banquet to be held at Beaver Creek Plantation on Oct 10, 2024. This fund raiser is supported and assisted by local Rotarians. Milton Gray introduced the speakers for the meeting. Gary Mason and Johnny Tapley gave a presentation on the Wreaths Across America and how that project was started. This organization puts wreaths on veterans’ graves during the holiday season. They recognized 1,650 deceased veterans in Emanuel County last Christmas and hope to do more this year. This is a way to honor the veterans and show appreciation for all they have done for us and the sacrifices made by them. The meeting was adjourned after this presentation, and the next meeting will be on Monday, September 9, 2024.
