Lady Eagles 2024 claw back, but fall just short against Trinity

Despite an 8-run deficit in the eighth inning, David Emanuel Academy Varsity Lady Eagles 2024 almost came all the way back, eventually falling 12-11 to Trinity Christian Varsity Crusaders on Tuesday, September 17. The Eagles closed the gap by scoring on an error, a single, a single, an error, an error, and a single. DEA collected eight hits and Trinity Christian had 15 in the high-scoring affair. The Lady Eagles got on the board in the fourth inning after Marlee Johnson hit into a double play, but one run scored. Madison Lowery doubled, which helped Trinity Christian tie the game at one in the top of the fifth. Trinity took the lead in the top of the sixth. Madelyn Dailey laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run, to give Trinity Christian Varsity Crusaders the lead, 2-1. The Lady Eagles jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after the Crusaders committed an error, and Kate Yeomans hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run. Trinity Christian took the lead in the top of the seventh. Lowery homered to center field, scoring two runs, to give Trinity Christian the upper hand, 4-3. Aubrey Scott singled, which helped David Emanuel Academy Varsity Lady Eagles 2024 tie the game at four in the bottom of the seventh. Trinity Christian Varsity Crusaders flipped the game on its head in the top of the eighth, scoring eight runs on six hits to take the lead, 12-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to left field by Ellie Quick on an 0-2 count that drove in four. The Lady Eagles scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the eighth inning. An error scored one run, Addalyn Terwilliger singled, scoring one run, Johnson singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, an error scored two runs, and Kaley Flowers singled, scoring one run. Kyli Bell took the loss for David Emanuel Academy. The right-handed pitcher went eight innings, surrendering 11 runs (10 earned) on 15 hits, striking out five and walking five. Johnson led the Eagles with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Bell set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading David Emanuel Academy Varsity Lady Eagles with two hits in four at bats. The Lady Eagles turned one double play in the game.
