The ECI Bulldogs softball team will enter state playoffs as the number one seed from region three as region champions.

They will host Pataula Charter Academy from Edison in southwest Georgia. The Panthers play in region one and enter the playoffs with a 19-6 season record. Pataula’s 6 losses all came from region opponents where they are the number 4 seed with a 14-6 region record.

The Panthers have been a scoring machine posting 20 runs in 7 games and have outscored their opponents 332-110.

The Lady Dawgs enter the state playoffs with a 22-3 season and 12-1 region record. ECI has scored 203 runs while allowing a paltry 37 runs, shutting out 14 of their 25 opponents.

The Lady Dawgs are battle tested playing schools in different classes from 6A to 1A.

They went toe to toe with the number one ranked team in class AAA last week in Baxley losing to the 18-1 Appling Co. Pirates by a score of 2-1 in the season’s last regular season game.

The state playoffs will begin today, October 13 in a best of 3 series at ECI. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. with second game following. The IF game will be played on Thursday at 3 p.m.

The winner of the series will face the winner of the Schley Co.-Glascock Co. series in the second round. If the Lady Dawgs advance, they will host the second round against one of those teams.

Other region 3 teams in action in the state playoffs are Portal who is hosting Baconton Charter. Bryan Co. will take the long ride to Donaldsonville to take on Seminole Co. and Screven Co. will be in southwest Georgia against region 1 champion, Pelham.
