David Emanuel Academy has announced the appointment of Daniel Flowers as the school’s new Athletic Director. Known by many as “Coach D”, Flowers has been serving as a teacher and coach at DEA for the last three years. He has assisted Clint Inman (the current AD) in football and baseball, and has also led the boys’ basketball programming. In the upcoming school year, Coach D will continue with the boys’ basketball program and will assist with the football and softball programs as well. Coach Flowers brings 20 years of experience to his new post. Through the years he has coached in Metter, Swainsboro, and in the local recreation department. He began his coaching career at David Emanuel, where he first met his wife, Coach Kristi Garrett Flowers. Officials at DEA affirmed their confidence in Flowers saying the school has been blessed to have him back for the last three years. Coach Flowers has been an assistant coach for two DEA State Championship teams - 2007 basketball team and 2022 football team. He has also been a part of two baseball region championships (both teams undefeated in region play). Commenting on the incoming AD, administrative sources at DEA added, “Coach D is a Christ follower and a family man. We couldn’t be more pleased to have someone of his caliber head up our athletic program”. In his free time, Flowers enjoys his membership at Eastwood Church of God, watching Kaley and Dalton (2 of his 3 children) play ball, relaxing with family, and watching college football. “First of all, I want to thank God for bringing me back to David Emanuel Academy. Secondly, I want to thank Mrs. Haylee, the Board, and the committee for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to serve as Athletic Director. Third, I want to thank Coach Inman for all his hard work for our athletic program here at DEA. I am so excited for this opportunity to serve as AD at such a great school with great athletes and families. I am excited about our future and the way we will continue to give our student athletes the best opportunities to be successful on and off the field. My goal is for all our sports to be the best they can possibly be every time we step on the playing surface. Go Eagles,” said Coach D.

DEA is also announcing the selection of a new football coach, TC Guyer “We are pleased and excited to welcome Coach Guyer and his wife Laiken and their daughter Raelyn to our DEA, Eagle family”, school officials said in making the announcement. The incoming head coach is a native of Canton, North Carolina where he was a letterman at Pisgah High School. He attended Mars Hill University where he served as Student-Assistant and was a member of the 2011 SAC Championship Team. Upon Graduation in 2015, TC served as Head Coach at Douglas Byrd Middle School, leading the team to a 6-2 record. In 2016, he moved to Avery County High School in Newland, NC where he served as the Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Line Coach and was instrumental in helping Avery reach the playoffs in 2019. In 2021, Coach Guyer took the Defensive Backs/Passing Game Coordinator position at Coffee County Central High School in Manchester, TN where he helped the Raiders reach the 6A playoffs and led the region in interceptions. Most recently, Guyer’s coaching career moved him to Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. During his career Coach Guyer has coached 7 All-State Players, 44 All-Region Players, 2 Conference Players of the Year, 3 Division 1 athletes, and 15 other collegiate athletes. He is the oldest of 4 boys and the son of a collegiate swim coach. In his free time, TC enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and grilling. “I first want to thank God for allowing me to make a living by doing what I love and that is coaching football. I am extremely grateful to Mrs. Free, the committee, and DEA for entrusting me with this wonderful opportunity. Coach Inman has done a great job of leading this program to great successes and I am honored to be able to follow in his footsteps and continue to build on the tradition of excellence that DEA football is accustomed to. I would not be here without the good Lord and the support of my family. We are excited to get to Stillmore and to become a part of the wonderful family community that DEA is. GO EAGLES and Iron Sharpens Iron!” -TC Guyer

As a third announcement DEA welcomed Natavus Robertson to their athletic staff. Natavus is an Emanuel County local, and the son of Nathan and Latoya Robertson. He attended Emanuel County Institute, where he starred in football, baseball and track. While attending ECI, he was named 1st Team All-Region for 4 years and was Honorable Mention All-State his Senior year. After high school, he attended Brevard College as a member of the football team for one year, then returned home. Currently, Natavus is enrolled at East Georgia State College and after his graduation in the Spring of 2024, will transfer to Georgia Southern University to receive his Bachelor's degree. Natavus is active in the Emanuel County community, raises registered and commercial Savanna goats and is a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. In his free time, Natavus enjoys lifting weights, fishing and spending time with his family. “What an opportunity! I would first like to take the time to thank God for gifting me with a special opportunity to be able to coach the game I love! I am beyond blessed to have been offered this chance by Mrs. Haylee Free, Coach D, the committee, and the entire DEA Family! I am extremely excited to come in and get to work in hopes of continuing the traditions and standards here at DEA! I pray God will lead me in a way to ensure our boys are in the best position to compete and play at a high level every Friday night! Thank you once again for this opportunity and I’m super amped up to be an Eagle!"
