Emanuel Retired Educators hear from PruittHealth

The Emanuel Retired Educators Association recently held its October meeting in the Swainsboro Primary School Media Center. President Toney Golden welcomed members and called the meeting to order. Swainsboro Primary School Principal Sarah Tapley extended a warm welcome from the school and shared information about the school’s academic focuses for the new school year. She shared that teachers were implementing a new English/Language Arts curriculum, and she also reviewed the school’s positive behavior program. Tapley then introduced Meghan Simonin, the new Assistant Principal of the Early Learning Center, who provided an update on that program. Next, Verdell Brinson offered the invocation, and members enjoyed a delicious meal provided by the Swainsboro Primary lunchroom.

Representatives from PruittHealth provided the program. Chasity Milbee and Morganne Moore shared important information regarding palliative care and hospice care. The valuable handouts they distributed gave specific information regarding the difference in the two types of care. PruittHealth serves 14 counties, and Milbee encouraged members to consider serving as volunteers.

As part of this year’s community projects, EREA members donated a variety of school supplies to Swainsboro Primary, and earlier in the day, doughnuts and bottled water were provided for the staff. President Golden reminded members that Georgia Retired Educators Day is Sunday, November 2. She distributed ribbons for members to wear that day.

EREA wishes to thank the Swainsboro Primary School administration and staff for the wonderful meal and the warm hospitality they extended. The next EREA meeting is set for Wednesday, November 19, at Swainsboro High School at noon. Representative Butch Parrish and Senator Max Burns will provide a legislative update.
