Mr. Edward “Ed” Mack Claxton, age 70, died Saturday, September 28, 2024, at his home in Nevils. Funeral service was held Wednesday, October 9, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastors James Davis and Matt Kunkle officiating. Interment followed at Swainsboro City Cemetery with Pastor Vic Fordham officiating. Family received visitors Wednesday, October 9, from 12 to 2 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

Pallbearers were BJ Claxton, Josh Claxton, Richard Claxton, Doug Claxton, David Johnson and Ryan Pepin.

Edward was born June 28, 1954, in Emanuel County, and attended Swainsboro High School. As a young man, he farmed the land until 1982 when he turned his dedication to timber harvesting, and later settling on timber hauling. Volunteering at Compassion Christian Church and spending time with his beloved grandchildren were his life’s passions. Mr. Claxton is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie James Claxton and Mildred Overstreet Claxton; brother, Eddie Gene Claxton; and sisters, Geraldine and Shirley Claxton.

Mr. Claxton is survived by his wife, Elaine Perry Claxton; children, Eddie Mack Claxton (Christina), Jeremy Claxton (April) and Kristal Claxton Knox (Fred); bonus children, Brad Smith (Barbie) and Summer Peters (Ryan); grandchildren, Isabella Claxton, Emma Claxton, Monroe Claxton, Mack Riley Knox, Johnny Mack Knox, Maci Ann Claxton, Andrew Grizich, Matthew Grizich, Zachary Grizich, Izzy Smith and Paxton Smith; sister, Patsy Fields; brothers, John Claxton (Brenda), Bobby Claxton (Melissa) and Larry Claxton; as well as many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
