According to the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office…

October 1

Deputy observed a vehicle pass him and run off the road, at which time he followed it for a short distance and the driver crossed the center line. Deputy made a traffic stop and the driver did not have a valid license. Offender was placed under arret and transported to EmCo Jail.

Complainant contacted 911 in reference to an assault that occurred on Saturday and stated that a male subject was complaining about her not doing anything in the home and when she went to talk to her grandmother, the male subject jumped on her and struck her in the face and body with a closed fist.

October 2

Deputies were dispatched to Bald Eagle Rd. in reference to a residential alarm. A resident advised the alarm had been set off accidentally.

Candler Co. SO contacted EmCo Jail in reference to two individuals that had outstanding warrants through ECSO. Deputy met CCSO to pick up both offender and transported them to EmCo Jail.

Deputy was dispatched to Hwy 80 East in reference to a child locked in a vehicle. Vehicle was unlocked without incident or damages. The child was retreive3d and found to be ok and in good health.

Deputy was dispatched to Stevens Crossing Rd. in reference to an entering auto report.

Deputy spoke with complainant in reference to nuisance animals.

Deputies were dispatched to Union Chapel Rd. in reference to debris blocking a driveway to hunting land. Deputy spoke with complainant who stated a male subject placed wood in front of her driveway and showed pictures of the male placing the wood there. Deputy went to the male’s house and he agreed to move the wood.

Deputies were dispatched to Alcott Rd. in reference to a burglary. Complainant stated he went to the residence and when he approached the back door, he could see the window busted out. C/p stated he then noticed that his tiller was missing.

October 3

Deputy responded to Maple Ave. in reference to a domestic dispute. Deputy met with the victim and witness where the victim stated her ex went to the residence to wash clothes and was irate and threatened to shoot her. Victim stated offender went to his truck where the weapon was supposed to be and went back inside the house and grabbed a kitchen knife and went after her with it. Witness confirmed victim’s statements.

Deputies were dispatched t Newsome Oil in reference to an abandoned vehicle.

A backpack belonging to victim was taken from where it was left in the parking lot of ECSO. The bag was later located on Short St. and victim stated some items were missing.

Deputy responded to Hwy 46 in reference to someone breaking into the caller’s garage.

Deputy responded to Willie Davis Rd. in reference to an elderly female wishing to obtain a gun from the property and other residents not wanting her to have it.

Deputy observed a driver not wearing a seatbelt, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. When deputy got behind the vehicle, he noticed it did not have working tag lights. The driver did not have a valid drivers license and was placed under arrest and transported to EmCo Jail.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop that resulted in a vehicle being damaged. Complainant stated that he was stopped by deputies and during the stop, a K9 was brought in in an attempt to alert on the vehicle and while the K9 was walking around his vehicle, it jumped up on the front and back driver’s door leaving scratches.

October 4

Deputy met with complainant at ECSO in reference to a report of a stolen four-wheeler.

Deputy observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. 911 advised the vehicle had no active insurance and suspended registration. Deputy spoke with the driver and could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Deputy then asked the driver if he had been drinking and he stated he had earlier in the morning. Deputy asked if he would perform a field sobriety and he stated only if he could smoke a cigarette and deputy told him no. Offender attempted to light a cigarette and was advised to stop and get out of the vehicle and he refused. Deputy then pulled offender out of the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs and put him in the back of his patrol unit. Another deputy arrived with a PBT and offender te3sted positive for alcohol. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

October 5

Deputy responded to Drew Bennet Rd. in reference to an unwanted person. Complainant advised she had a court order for eviction on offender who was supposed to be off the property on 10/5, and was advised that offender was still on the property and she wanted him removed. Deputies met with offender who stated it got too late and he was in the process of loading the last of his property and would be on the property just long enough to secure his trailer and he would be gone.

Deputy met with complainant at ECSO where she stated she has been having problems with her neighbor’s dogs on Mitzi Ln. C/p stated her neighbor has two pit bulls and she can’t even go off her deck without them snarling and growling at her. C/p advised officers were at her house two weeks ago and stated they would talk to the neighbor but it either didn’t help or the officers never made contact with him. C/p states she knows there is no leash laws for the county, but she is in fear for her life when she goes outside. Witness, c/p’s brother, was at c/p’s house one day when the dogs penned him up against a truck and luckily, he had a shovel in the back of his truck and was able to get to safety using it as a weapon. C/p wants something done about the dogs because she is elderly and could not fight them by herself if she had to.

Deputy responded to Old Metter Rd. to a call regarding Animal Control setting out a trap in order to catch a dog at the location. Deputy met with c/p who stated AC1 entered his property and set a trap in order to catch a dog without permission and an AC1 employee walked on his porch but did not knock to notify him she was there and proceeded to set the trap. C/p stated this was an attempt to catch his dog that they claim matches the description of a dog that was involved in a child getting bit and that it was not his dog that was involved in the incident because he is not aggressive towards other people. C/p stated he believes someone poisoned his dog because after AC1 left, his dog came back two hours later visibly impaired. Deputy observed the dog being able to hardly walk and continuously urinating when he was able to stand upright.

Deputies assisted GSP with a single vehicle rollover with injuries on Hwy 1 South Bypass.

October 6

Deputy observed a vehicle at a high rate of speed, at which time he initiated a traffic stop.

Deputies were dispatched to Lambs Bridge Rd. in reference to a dispute. Complainant stated offender was not supposed to be on the property and offender stated she was there to help remove her building. The landowner arrived and stated it was okay for offender to get her building but after that, he no longer wants her on any of his property. Deputy waited for offender to remove the building from the property and advised her she was no longer allowed on the property, including the property inside the City of Swainsboro, and would be arrested if she did.

October 7

Deputies assisted SPD with a traffic control for a two vehicle MVA.

Deputy responded to Griffin Ferry Rd. in reference to a damaged vehicle. Victim stated she approached the incident location and observed several dogs in the road and proceeded to slow down. Victim stated she sat there waiting on the dogs to move and more dogs came out of the yard and circled her vehicle and one bit her bumper and began trying to rip it off. Deputy observed teeth marks on the bumper and the right bumper had been torn away from the fender. Deputy attempted to make contact with the offender but he was not home. AC1 was notified.

Deputies observed a vehicle on I16 with expired registration and no valid insurance, at which time they made a traffic stop. It was found that the driver had an active warrant through Toombs Co. and was transported to EmCo Jail.

Deputies were dispatched to SR 46 in reference to a domestic. Complainant stated if they didn’t do something about his brother, he would, and explained that his brother has been beating on his girlfriend and she is scared of him. Deputy spoke with the girlfriend who had visible bruising on her face and arms and she stated offender did it. Victim stated when offender gets mad, he beats on her and has been drinking for the past few days and she’s afraid to call the police because every time she calls someone, offender beats her with a closed fist. Offender was arrested and transported to EmCo Jail.

Victim stated a truck pulling a big trailer with pine straw hit her van in the service station parking lot. Minor damage was observed.

October 8

Deputies made contact with complainant who stated a battery had been stolen form his camper.
