Ricky Thomas, age 38, of Swainsboro was arrested twice in two months on drug related charges.

The first arrest was made February 9, 2024. Following crack cocaine purchases made by undercover agents, a search warrant was issued. Thomas was arrested on New Street and charged with trafficking crack cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, theft by receiving stolen property, and possession of drug related objects. He was released on bond.

On April 9, Thomas was once again arrested. Swainsboro Police Department made a traffic stop and found crack cocaine in the vehicle. Narcotics Investigator Dakota Lamb with the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Department was called in to help with the investigation. The driver of the vehicle told officers he had purchased the drugs from Thomas. A search warrant was issued on a Harris Street address, where Thomas resides. Investigators recovered 108 grams of crack cocaine and a firearm. Thomas was charged with trafficking crack cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule 2 controlled substance with intent to distribute, 2 counts possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, 3 counts pos-session of dangerous drugs and possession of drug related objects.

“We can’t get all the drugs off the street but we are making every effort. It’s not easy – the drug dealers try to stay one step ahead but we capitalize on their mistakes,” stated Investigator Lamb.
