Mrs. Dinah Walden Burke, 71, of Swainsboro, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro following an extended illness. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 24, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Mark Sweat officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Dina was born June 13, 1951, in Swainsboro, to the late J. W. Walden and Betty Bishop Hinson. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Matter of fact, Dinah loved EVERYONE like family. If you ever met her, by the time you left, you felt as if you were family and you knew she loved you. Dinah had a passion for WWE and NASCAR. You could find her every Sunday afternoon and Monday night in front of her TV cheering on her favorite people (AJ Styles and Martin Truex, Jr.) and y'all, wrestling is real! Dinah also loved Georgia football (#GoDawgs). She loved to have fun. Dinah would fall for every prank we pulled on her and would just laugh so hard. Her laughter was infectious. Dinah also loved to dance, especially to the oldies. If she ever heard it playing, she couldn't help herself; she would stop in her tracks and start shagging. Dinah was a 1969 graduate of Emanuel County Institute. She was a member of Canoochee Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Burke is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry Burke; and granddaughter, Courtney Burke.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Baumgardner (Joshua) of Winder; sons, Shane Burke (Tara Alexander) of Summertown and Terry Burke (Tabitha) of Guyton; stepdaughter, Cindy Beamon of Lawrenceville; stepson, Paul Burke (Angela) of Dacula; sisters, Judy Walden Hall and Janice Walden, both of Swainsboro and Christy Kimsey (Shawn) of Metter; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of arrangements.
