Bulldogs battle in another overtime game

Chances are, during a football season, you may be involved one or two overtime games. Friday night, the Bulldogs played in their third overtime game in the last four games. The Bulldogs lost their second overtime game in a row to Jenkins Co. 20-17 Friday, and more importantly, their second region loss. It was a defensive battle for most of the game. Each team moved the chains on their opening drives, for a 7-7 score at the end of the first quarter. Brian Steele bulled over from the one for the Bulldogs’ first touchdown in the game. Both teams’ defenses kept the offenses from reaching the redzone in the second quarter with the half ending with a 7-7 score. Just like the first quarter the Bulldogs drove the field on their opening drive of the third quarter. Chase Johnson scored on a 10-yard touchdown run to put the Bulldogs up 14-7. The Eagles scored their last touchdown in regulation early in the fourth quarter to tie the Bulldogs 14-14. The Bulldogs got the ball first in overtime and were unable to get a first down, calling on Oisin Mattews for a field goal try. The senior kicker split the uprights to put the Bulldogs up 17-14. The Eagles took the ball at the 15 and put the ball into the endzone on two runs to defeat the Bulldogs 20-17. The Bulldogs rushed for 196 yards. Tyler Foreman was once again the workhorse, carrying the ball 18 times for 115 yards.
