The Emanuel County Commissioners sailed through the April meeting Monday evening, April 20, much like the winds that have dominated our recent weather. With all five commissioners present, the meeting was called to order promptly at 6 p.m. by Chairman Jim Sherrod, and the approval of minutes from the April 13, workshop meeting, and the March 16, regular meeting was approved. Under new business, discussion of road repairs and resurfacing under grant awards from the State was conducted and approval granted for 2026 LMIG Award, 2025 I.R.A. Project Award, and the 2026 T.I.A Project Award. The approval of these various awards and approval of vendors’ low bids by the commission means that the county will continue to see improvements on a vast number of roadways during the coming months. Next under new business was a discussion of the revisions and upgrade of policy regarding the county ”Paid Time Off” Policy. The update of this policy will simplify rules and procedures for county employees when taking needed time off from their duties. The changes in policy were approved unanimously by the commission. The final issue of the evening dealt with a housekeeping issue of an outdated financial arrangement with the county hospital and the need to clarify and update various conditions of the older agreement for the benefit of both entities. Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the motion. This was the final agenda item of the meeting, and adjournment was called for and agreed to.
