William Elmer Blizzard, 94

Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Mr. William Elmer Blizzard, age 94, of Adrian, on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 4, at 3 p.m. at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Sam Adkins and Pastor Mike Blizzard officiating. Interment will follow in the Sardis Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sardis Primitive Baptist Church one hour prior to services.

Pallbearers are nephews.

Mr. Blizzard was born September 7, 1929, in Johnson County, to the late Charlie Thomas and Bertie Hutcheson Blizzard. He was a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Blizzard enlisted in the US Navy in 1947 as a Seaman Recruit and retired as a Lieutenant Commander after 23 years of service. He served in many duty stations in the United States, Puerto Rico, Seoul South Korea, as well as four ship assignments in the Atlantic Fleet. Wil-liam was a member of the Military Officers Association of America. In addition to his par-ents, Mr. Blizzard is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jeanette Barwick Blizzard; broth-ers, Charles G. Blizzard and Olon Lamar Blizzard; sisters, Kathryn Brantley, Sarah Nell Boulineau and Margaret Blizzard.

Survivors include his son, Steve Blizzard (Robin) of Seymour, TN; daughter, Janet Corbett (Larry) of Grayson; grandchildren, Sarah Marie Merrill (Curt), Benjamin Blizzard, Amanda Corbett, Ryan Corbet (Taylor) and Jennifer Corbett; great-granddaughter, Amelia Merrill; sis-ters, Joanne Blizzard Ledford and Linda Blizzard Joiner, both of Wrightsville; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sardis Primitive Baptist Church.
