Wilkes speaks to the Veterans at the Library

The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting, Monday, July 31, 2023, at 9:15 a.m. With Chair John Tapley presiding, there were 33 in attendance. The veterans enjoyed French toast with syrup, cut cantaloupe, coffee, and orange juice. The newest veteran to attend the weekly meeting is James Elijah Moore, Jr “Lige”. Lige served in the Georgia Army National Guard from September 1968 through September 1974. He was a member of Company A, 878th Engineer Battalion located in Swainsboro. He attended Combat Basic training and his MOS training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and other training at Fort Gordan, Fort Stewart, and Hunter Army Airfield. His highest rank received was Specialist 5. Chair Tapley then introduced Emanuel County Probate Judge Don Wilkes who presented his program that explained what his office offers veterans. This includes wills, birth certificates, death certificates, firearm licenses, trusts, and constitutional carry. If you are a veteran, please attend the Veterans weekly meetings each Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. at the library for an hour of fellowship and free breakfast.
