What can I give?

Posted

As we look around us in this season, it seems that a lot of people are giving. So why should I give and what can I give? Well the Bible states in Luke 6:38, "Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over shall men give in your bosom. For with the same measure you measure with, it shall be measured to you again.”

Now when should we give? The Bible says in I John 3:17, “But whoso has this world's goods, and seeing his brother have a need, and close up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwells the love of God in him?.”

It's so nice of you to give to the needy at Christmas so they will not feel let out. But what do we do when they have been needing things all year? That patient in the nursing home that has a family which has neglected them. Did you even go by doing the year to see if there was something you could give? Maybe something as simple as a smile, or brushing or combining their hair, or maybe just a conversation so they will not feel alone. Read them a story or sing them a song.

Yes, there is a lot you have that you can give. Remember everyone has a body. So Romans 8:1 says, “I beg you brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice…” God has to beg his people to sacrifice themselves to give, for the kingdom of God. There are some things we see every day. Ask God to open your spiritual eyes and ears and you will see and hear the need to love, to make peace, and bring joy to others.

Need I say more? Adopt a project. Adopt a grandparent Adopt a family. Adopt a child. Remember that we are adopted children of God. Teach your children and grands. Yes, get them out of their technology for a while and make them a part of the ministry you adopt. Take time and read Matthew 25:31-46. I challenge you to read it repeatedly. God will tell you what to give, how to give, and when to give.
