The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting at the Franklin Memorial Library Monday morning, February 23, at 9 a.m. With Chair Johnny Tapley presiding, they had 48 in attendance. The Diner, owned by Stephanie Riner, furnished a great breakfast of grits, sausage biscuits and fruit paid for by the "RED BOX". The food was outstanding and veterans thank Stephanie for doing this for them. Librarian Shari Watt gave an update on the Easter Egg Hunt and that the city needs help placing the eggs. Veterans helped last year and had a great time. Chair Johnny talked about the upcoming Veterans Cup Golf Tournament on May 16, and they will be selling "Golf Hole" sponsor signs soon. Chair Johnny also displayed the two 250th Flags that they purchased recently and will put them up in the Veterans and 1st Responders Memorial Park as soon as the city finishes the repairs. The Veterans have also purchased a new U.S. Flag for the Park; it’s a 8' X 12' flag and will fly on the new 40' flagpole.
