Walter Newton Jr., age 66, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2026, at home in Oak Park. A Celebration of Life was held Sunday, April 26, at 2 p.m. at Mosley’s Funeral Home with Pastor Delmus Mosley officiating.
Walter was born June 21, 1959, in Millen, to Susie Lemore and John Walter Newton. He was known for his hard work and dedication to his country. Walter proudly and courageously served 24 years in the US Army and National Guard (retired Veteran) and later worked as a truck driver. He enjoyed driving big trucks, working in the yard and spending time with his wife and family.
Mr. Newton is survived by his wife, Angelea Newton of Swainsboro; children, Amanda Newton (Tommy) of Vidalia, Tushun Newton (Jill) of Statesboro, Walter Newton (Jody) of Clarksville, TN, Aquido Newton (Rashari) of Chicago, IL, Allen Newton (Shauntrice) of Swainsboro, Nichole Howard (Derrick) of Swainsboro, Jeremy Howard of Statesboro and Durrell Redding (Amber) of Statesboro; 30 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three angels; siblings, Willie Newton of Atlanta, Tommy Newton of Clarksville, TN, Gussie Mills (Willie) of Swainsboro and Perry Newton of Swainsboro.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
