Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. Walt L. Yeomans, age 78, of Swainsboro, on Friday, November 24, 2023, in Alpharetta, following an extended illness. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, November 28, at 2 p.m. in the Swainsboro First Baptist Church with Rev. Casey Shaw officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial followed in the New Hope Church Cemetery near Lexsy.

Pallbearers were Reece Yeomans, Christopher Smith, Bill Hubbard, David Graham, Tyler Yeomans and Nick Yeomans. Honorary pallbearers were past and present employees of Yeomans and Associates Insurance Agency.

Mr. Yeomans was born in San Antonio, TX, to Waldo and Evelyn Childs Yeomans. He was a native of Swainsboro until moving to Alpharetta six years ago. Walt was a 1963 graduate of Swainsboro High School with numerous accomplishments in basketball, tennis and public speaking. He enjoyed basketball and racquet sports even into his adult years. Walt was a member of the Men’s Quartet, UGA Men’s Glee Club, Theta Chi Fraternity and Gideon’s International. He graduated from University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Walt was the owner of Yeomans and Associates Insurance Agency, South One Properties and Southern Heritage Group, Ltd., and a member of the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro. In addition to being a business owner, Walt was a general contractor and built houses. He was an avid UGA fan. Walt loved cooking for others and was famous for his “Walt Burgers”. He will be missed for his sense of humor, love of knowledge and his generosity. Mr. Yeomans is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Dr. Randy Yeomans.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dinah Moore Yeomans of Alpharetta; daughter, Kristy Y. Smith (Christopher) of Milton; son, Eric Yeomans of Swainsboro; brother, Ronny Yeomans (Karen) of Dublin; grandchildren, Reece Yeomans, Ava Smith and Allyson Smith; nieces and nephews.
