Wallace instructs 2nd Artillery Certification Class

The Brier Creek Artillery, also known as the "Skunk Brigade", of the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution plus members of the SAR & DAR from around Georgia and South Carolina, attended the National Civil War Artillery Association Class to be certified for two years in Artillery on Saturday, May 30, at the Reynolds Clubhouse at 9 a.m. with instructor and Inspecting Officer Elaine W. Wallace. Instructor Wallace was assisted by three qualified instructors. The Class lasted for six hours with instruction, hands on safety procedures with seven six-pounder cannons and a final written test. SAFETY was at the fore front and emphasized in every step. There were 24 in attendance including John Derden, Bill Carmichael, Bernard Martin, Bernard Martin II, Benjamin Martin, Joseph Martin, Cam Quick, Dan McMichael, Caleb Kinard, Harry Floyd, Logan Caldwell, Steve Hesler, Tom Jacques, Lynn Jacques, Mike Watkins, Leslie Watkins, Larry Gamble, Edith Gamble, Judson LeViner, Steve Weaver, Nelson Bowling, Jared Ogden, David Sikes and Dawn Sikes.
