Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Mrs. Viola Szabelski Johnson, age 96, of Swainsboro, on Friday, March 3, 2023, at the Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home following an extended illness. Memorial service will be Saturday, March 11, at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Tidwell officiating.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Trenton, NJ, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Valenti "Wally" and Stella Sulesky Szabelski. "Miss Viola" was a devoted mother who loved her sons and daughter-in-law dearly. She also loved her church family and friends. Miss Viola was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Her hobbies were working in the yard, tending to her flowers and "going out to eat". In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her husband, Wallace D. Johnson; and stepfather, Everett Kemp.
Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Johnson of Ranch Santo Margarito, CA and Wallace Johnson (Sandie) of Trenton, NJ; devoted friend, Helen Thain of Swainsboro.
