The Veterans at the Library traveled to the Veterans and 1st Responders Park located at the corner of U.S. Hwy 80 and GA State Hwy 57 on Friday morning, February 2, to erect three U.S. Flags to honor those Georgia Soldiers that were killed in Jordan on January 28. All three soldiers were members of the 718th Engineer Company (U.S. Army Reserve), 926th Engineer Battalion, 926th Engineer Brigade, Fort Moore, (Benning) Georgia. The three soldiers killed are Sgt. William Jerome Rivers of Carrollton, Georgia; Spec. Kennedy Ladon Sanders of Waycross, Georgia; and Spec. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett of Savannah, Georgia. The soldiers were killed while more than 40 other service members were injured following an uncrewed aerial system (drone) attack at a military base near the Syrian border (Tower 22) and impacted their container housing unit. They were in Jordan to support Operation Inherent Resolve, which is the U.S. and coalition mission to ensure the defeat of ISIS.
