The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting Monday morning, January 26, at 9 a.m. With Chair Johnny Tapley iced in in Atlanta, Veteran Scotty Newsworthy presided with 35 in attendance. Shari Watt provided a breakfast casserole, grits, banana nut bread, orange juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, apple juice and coffee. Veteran Scotty talked about picking up all the Wreaths Across America signs that were still out and taking them by the library. He also talked about the local organizations that provided breakfast every Monday morning and how much they appreciate them for sticking with them as we they have grown from four veterans in four and a half years to an average of 45 to 60 every Monday morning. Scotty also talked about the upcoming 3rd Annual Veterans Cup Golf Tournament to be held on May 16, and they will be looking for hole sponsors for this year’s tournament. A new veteran attended the meeting this morning, Veteran Jason Scott Dayhoff. Jason served in the U.S. Army from March 9, 2000, until December 31, 2022, serving during the Global War on Terrorism and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was stationed in Korea, Fort Lewis, Washington, Fort Stewart, Iraq and Fort Benning, and served with the 1/506th Infantry, 1-5 Infantry, 1-115th Infantry and the 1-175th Infantry. MSG Dayhoff’s highest rank was E-8/MSG.
