David Emanuel Varsity Lady Eagles scored nine runs in the third inning, which helped them defeat Portal Panthers 12-0 on Wednesday, August 12. Bailey McNure singled, scoring two runs, Lexie Starley singled, scoring one run, Emily McRae drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Kaley Flowers singled, scoring two runs, and Payton Peebles doubled, scoring two runs.
The Lady Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Peebles doubled to center field, and Rayleigh Faircloth lined out, each scoring one run.
Faircloth earned the win for DEA. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. R Pylant took the loss for Portal Panthers. The pitcher went three and one-third innings, giving up 12 runs (10 earned) on nine hits, striking out none and walking five.
Peebles provided a pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Eagles with three runs batted in. The second baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. Flowers and Peebles were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for David Emanuel Academy while hitting back-to-back. The Eagles had patience at the plate, piling up five walks for the game. They were sure handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Flowers had the most chances in the field with seven.
