Upcoming events at Franklin Memorial Library

Franklin Memorial Library has lined up a series of fun, engaging activities for the week of August 28 to September 3. Though this week may seem quieter than usual, the library continues to offer a blend of events that cater to a wide range of interests and age groups. Kicking off the week, the library honors our brave veterans with breakfast. The Veterans' Breakfast will take place on Monday, August 28, at 9:30 a.m. It is an opportunity for veterans to mingle, share stories, and talk about the upcoming Wreaths Across America. This event is open to all veterans in our community, and we encourage those who served to join us in this gathering. On Friday, September 1, at 10:30 a.m., the library welcomes toddlers and parents for Toddler Time. This event encourages little ones to engage with stories, songs, and creative play, fostering a love for reading and learning from an early age. This is a wonderful opportunity for toddlers to interact with peers and for parents to connect with each other in the community. Wrapping up the week, the Knotty Knitters Club will meet on Saturday, September 2, at 10 a.m. This event is perfect for those who love to knit or are interested in picking up the craft. Whether you are a seasoned knitter or a beginner eager to learn, this meet-up offers a warm, friendly environment where you can hone your skills and share your projects with like-minded individuals. We are happy to announce that our Teen Advisory Boards, also known as TABs, will be back in session. A TAB is a group of teen volunteers who help us figure out how to best serve the teens at the library. They recommend books, plan events, and help us make the library a place where teens feel welcomed and valued. Also, mark your calendars for Grandparents Day, a special day to honor the wisdom and heritage our grandparents provide. This will be an opportunity to connect across generations and celebrate family ties with fun-filled activities designed for all ages. We would like to invite you to our annual Fall Book Sale, a must-attend event for book lovers. A wide variety of books across different genres will be available at affordable prices. It's a perfect opportunity to expand your home library, discover new authors, or find that out-of-print book you have been searching for. Finally, we're introducing a new Readiness Workshop for our teens and TAB members. These workshops aim to equip our young patrons with necessary life skills, from managing personal finances to effective communication and more. Even though this week might be slower than usual, Franklin Memorial Library continues to offer activities that promote learning, connect communities, and celebrate our local heroes. Whether you are a veteran, a parent of a toddler, or a knitting enthusiast, there is something for everyone at the library this week. We look forward to seeing you at Franklin Memorial Library. Come create, learn, and connect with us!
