Senior Tra’myra Brown signed a letter of intent to play soccer for Brewton-Parker Christian University in Mount Vernon. As a three-year starter for the Tigers and a strong defensive player, she demonstrated her abilities by earning the Defensive Player of the Year award last year as a junior. Building on these achievements, head coach Raymond Scott describes her as the team jokester who nonetheless maintained focus when it mattered most. He says, “Tra’myra is an aggressive, tough defender with a strong foot, and we used her for specialty kicks often.” Her continued growth was evident as she earned Most Improved Player honors as a 10th-grader and was named to the 1st Team All-Region as a senior.

This accomplishment marked an exciting day, as Tra’myra became only the second SHS athlete to continue their soccer career. To highlight her journey, Coach Chang Hua Lin praised the hard work Tra’myra has put into the program for many years, saying, “Tra’myra has been a part of this program since middle school. She has worked hard and will surely have a successful college soccer career.” Brewton Parker coaches Kyler McIntosh and Jacob Alvernia attended the event and expressed their anticipation for Tra’myra’s impact, with McIntosh adding, “We are excited to see Tra’myra share the determination and grit with the Brewton Parker family.”

Tra’myra’s family joined her for the signing ceremony, including her mother, Kenosha Brown, sister Kamiyah Worthen, brother Kingston Brown, and many extended family members. This support was matched by the presence of SHS coaches, administrators, teachers, and teammates, demonstrating the community's pride in her achievement.
