The Sunshine House celebrates Child Abuse Prevention Month

Posted

The Sunshine House Regional Children's Advocacy Center is dedicated to its mission of providing brighter days for children living in their darkest of days, specifically serving the families within the Middle Judicial Circuit. To ensure accessibility and a localized response, The Sunshine House maintains a physical house in all five counties served, offering a safe, child-friendly environment for healing after abuse. The Sunshine House offers a comprehensive suite of free services including forensic interviews, child and family advocacy, and forensic medical exams, alongside long-term support through counseling and parenting programs. These critical services are made possible through collaborative partnerships with the District Attorney's office, law enforcement, Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS), ensuring a unified multidisciplinary approach to every case. As April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, The Sunshine House is stepping up efforts to educate the community on prevention and awareness. You may notice a beautiful blue downtown fountain, blue ribbons being worn and blue pinwheels planted throughout our communities; these serve as powerful symbols of the bright futures desired for every child. The success of The Sunshine House's pinwheel fundraiser is a testament to the incredible spirit of cooperation within our local communities. Each blue pinwheel spinning in the wind represents a collective promise to protect our children and prioritize their well-being. The Sunshine House is deeply grateful to the local businesses, civic groups, and individuals across our five counties whose generosity ensures our services remain free and accessible. Together, we are turning awareness into action and cultivating a community where every child has the chance to grow up in a safe, nurturing environment. We invite you to join us in this effort to protect our most vulnerable and support the healing journey of those impacted by abuse.
