On Wednesday, September 23, Emanuel County 911 dispatched deputies with the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office to Union Chapel Baptist Church, located at 333 South Railroad Street in Garfield, reference to a reported burglary.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the complainant who advised of two possible offenders. The complainant further advised of arriving at the church location and speaking with two subjects, a white male and white female, who were sitting in front of the church. Upon the arrival of the complainant, contact was made with the two involved subjects who then left the scene in a blue in color Honda Accord following conversation. It was then that the complainant entered the church and discovered items being missing such as two microwaves, two tower speakers, a PA box, a karaoke box, and assorted kitchen supplies estimated to be approximately $1,500 in value.

After obtaining information from the complainant, deputies later made contact with a vehicle occupied by two subjects matching the same description as provided by the complainant. Contact was made with said subjects, who admitted to being located at the church earlier that day but did not admit to having knowledge of the reported missing items nor were the stolen items located in the involved vehicle.

Just four days later, on Sunday, September 27, an officer with the Twin City Police Department responded to the address of Cooper Baptist Church, located at 801 Bailey Street in Twin City, in reference to an additional theft by taking report.

Upon officer’s arrival, it was reported that two air conditioner window units had been stolen from the church location, but no possible subjects were mentioned.

Just days prior to both church burglaries, on September 19, Twin City officer had also responded to the residential address of 606 Old Statesboro Road in Twin City in reference to a burglary by forced entry report. There was information provided as to who the involved offender(s) could have been.
