At the March 2026 meeting of the City Commission of Twin City, the City Commission honored 8 local heroes who stopped a fire from spreading. On March 1, 2026, 8 kids were in the Coursey Road neighborhood of Twin City when they saw a small fire spreading in the yard of a neighbor’s home. The kids sprang into action to put the fire out. Once Twin City Police and Twin City Fire arrived, the kids had substantially put the fire out themselves. The 8 local heroes honored were as follows: Brooks Kirkland Jr, Timmy Hill Jr, Zo'Miraka Burke, Alonzo Burke Jr, Mason Fann, Erin Rawls, Harley Passmore, and James Bell. Mayor Donaldson, Fire Chief Holden, and the members of the City Commission thanked the 8 kids for their heroism on that day.
