The Georgia Department of Education has recognized Twin City Elementary as a 2025-2026 John Hancock Banner and Ribbon of Distinction recipient for its students’ achievement in cursive writing.
The John Hancock Award is presented to Georgia schools whose students demonstrate proficiency in cursive writing. To receive the Ribbon of Distinction, at least 90% of students must be able to write both their names and the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution in cursive.
TCE was among 323 schools across Georgia to earn the Ribbon of Distinction for the 2025-2026 school year.
The Georgia Department of Education recognized this year’s recipients in conjunction with Constitution Week. Cursive writing is included in Georgia’s English Language Arts standards and supports the development of writing fluency while also allowing students to read historic documents in their original form.
This recognition highlights the efforts of Twin City Elementary students and staff, as well as their ongoing commitment to developing strong readers and writers.
