Ms. Essie Mae Sessions passed away on December 23, 2023. She was born in Emanuel County and attended Emanuel County High School, graduating in 1962. After graduating, Essie moved to Fort Pierce, FL to be with her mother. She became a member of the Doom Gang in 2003 and served until her health started failing and was unable to attend the meetings/banquets. Samuel Jenkins, Jr., Vice-President of The Lonesome Doom Gang, said that Essie will be missed not just as a Doom Gang member, but as a friend. We grew up together and were friends for over 70 years. Essie is the second Lonesome Doom Gang member to pass within the past two years. Angelia Handberry Walker died in January 2021.
