The Light

Posted

One of the most magical and exciting thing about Christmas is the lights. You know Christmas is on the way when you begin to see the lights. The lights make everything bright and cheerful. Receiving gifts without a Christmas tree with lights is boring. When we see the homes decorated during the day, they look good but when night comes, and we see the lights, they look great.

When God made the world and everything was dark, he stated in Genesis 1:3," …and let there be light and there was light". Thank God for light. We have had light from that time. So why is there such a fuss when we don't have light? Answer: "So we can see".

God chose to put light in the world so we can see. He did not want us colliding into each other. Think about it. Where there is no light, there is chaos. So why was Jesus born? To give us light. John 1:4 tells us ". In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shined is darkness ant the darkness could not overtake it."

In Matthew 5:14&16, Jesus says, "You are the light of the world." So he tells us to let our light shine before men so that they may see our good works (deeds) and God will get the glory in heaven.

Now that something to shout about. Even when all the lights are taken down and put away, we will still shine. When we shine, we will continue to do good deeds. When we shine, we will continue to love one another. When we shine, we will feed the hungry, clothes the naked and feed the stranger. When our light shine we will care for the homeless and the mentally ill. When we put our light shine, love will radiate the earth.

See there are a lot of dark places in this world which need your light. There are neighbors next door who needs your light. So let us connect with Jesus this Christmas. Jesus is our power source. When we stay connected to him, we will continue to shine.

I'm going to close with this song the Saints sang in church when I was growing up. It went like this: "Let your light shine, shine, shine. Let your light shine, shine, shine. The maybe someone down in the valley trying to get home.". Enjoy the lights and most of all,. " Be the light.". Have a wonderful and blessed Christmas,
