The Gift of Love

Posted

I'm so excited because we are in a special time. The closer we get to Christmas Day, the more exciting things become. While we celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ, gifts become a main attraction. Why gifts? Because God gave us the gift of love. John 3:16 tells us, " And God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosever believes in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Yes, Jesus is the gift of love because "God is love. He that dwells in love, dwells in God and God dwells in him" (I John 4:16). The love of the Father flows through his Son which is given unto us. Yes, the real gift of Christmas is love. So when we recognize the true gift and accept the true gift, we all will be at Peace. The gift of love covers everything. The Christmas Story is a love story. Through love, God gave his Son. Through love his son, Jesus Christ, gave his life for us. Now the Word says that we ought to lay down our lives for one another.

The gifts in the Christmas Story were given by the wise men. So why were the gifts given? Because it is customary. You never come in the presence of a king without a gift. The wise men knew they were going to see the King. They asked the question, " Where is he that is born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east and are come to worship him."(Matthew 1:1 &11)The wise men brought the King gifts; gold, frankincense, and myrrh. The gifts for the king were the best.

So today, what do we offer the King? How do we come in his presence? What should we present to him? Apostle Paul in Romans 12:1-2 tells us, " I beg you brothers therefore, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and perfect will of God.."

Really, Jesus is the reason for the season and all he wants for his birthday is you. He wants you to love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, soul and mind, then love your others as you do yourself. Yes it's all about, "The Gift of Love". So let's go and celebrate the real Christmas. Let's go show so love.
