The Garden of Eden

Humanity’s troubles began in “Garden of Eden '' when the devil tempted Eve to eat from the fruit of the tree of Knowledge, which was a mixture of good and evil. So when the woman said that the tree was good for food, and it was pleasant for the eyes, and it was a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of the fruit and encouraged Adam to take a bite. (Genesis 3:6) The tree they chose is a tree of

Knowledge based upon human reasoning “Apart“ from God. In choosing the tree, they rejected the tree of life and the choice to be led by God‘s perfect commandments. Adam and eve chose to determine right from wrong for themselves, and they would thereafter eat the better fruits of their own thoughtfulness decisions. The same choices face all of us today, as God explained through his prophet Moses. “I have set before you life and death blessings and cursing; therefore choose life.”

The answer is found at the very beginning of the first chapter of Genesis ``Then God said “Let us

make man in our own image, in the image of God, he created male and female.” We were created to be led by the “spirit” of God and be children of God. We are joint hands of God and joint hands with Christ. We are to become God’s children. First, though, we must learn the lesson of the Garden encounter: God is the supreme authority and it is he, who determines right from wrong, and definitely not us! It is his perfect way that produces blessings and good results. But Adam and Eve failed this test: they chose their earthly knowledge over God‘s wisdom.

Who as human beings do you love determining right from wrong and have put God‘s plan squarely on the “back burner“ at our lives. We are determined to be firmly in control, as Adam and Eve aspired to be in the Garden of Eden. We are living in the last days; the Bible’s Final, tragic events are in plain sight. Do you think Covid happened by sheer accident or the hellish forest fires that are destroying California’s scenic state? What about the war in the Afghan region that cost the United States 300 million a day, couldn’t that money be spent in more constructive ways? We eat anything inside, whether it is safe or not. And use anything on the market that is addictive and makes us feel good, but only temporary, while we search for more drugs until they take over our lives completely.

The Apostle John gives us thy warning: “Do you not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the father is not in him. For all that is sin is in the world, the lust of the flesh that lust of the eyes and pride of life that will make one wise is not of the father but is one of the world.” (I John 2:15-16)
