The first Scavenger Hunt for Books was big and good news!

Posted

The first week of the Scavenger Hunt for Books was a huge success, thanks to our first business location, The Forest-Blade! Children followed the three clues on the Emanuel County Family Connection Facebook page to get to the location where the treasure of free books was given out. The friendly staff at The Blade welcomed the sleuths who started arriving at 8:30 a.m. in the morning and kept coming until 5 p.m. Children also received a passport book to record their journeys throughout the eight-week hunt. Several lucky early hunters also received a magnifying glass as a souvenir.

A total of 50 children participated in this great kick-off week. If you missed the first week, families may join the hunt at any time. Be sure to check the Family Connection Facebook page Monday-Wednesday of every week to figure out what local business will distribute the books on Thursday.

This is an annual literacy project by Family Connection and is funded through a Mill Creek Foundation grant.

A special thank you to the Forest Blade for their participation and financial support in the 2026 Scavenger Hunt for Books!
