The Junior Reserves Training Corps (JROTC) of Emanuel County Institute celebrated its annual Military “Masquerade” Ball on March 31, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The hosts included Senior Army Instructor (SAI), LTC Yarbrough, and the Army Instructor (AI), SFC Nelson. The ball consisted of cadets and guests from Emanuel County Institute and Jenkins County High School. Sha’Quada Rountree, the guest speaker, was a former JROTC cadet who spoke about her time in the program and how it affected her life for the better after high school.
During the occasion, everyone halted and observed a moment of silence in remembrance of the soldiers who have been reported missing in action and in honor of those who are still here. Two of the primary ceremonies during the ball were the JROTC Punch Bowl Ceremony and the Cutting of the Ceremonial Cake, which led to the cadets’ favorite activity, the dance. We
