The Choice is Yours

Now more than ever, our lives are filled with choices. Even without realizing it, every choice we make affects our present and future. I really hate having to make some choices but, in some instances, I am glad that the voice is mine.

While growing up, I hated eating tomatoes and rice. I didn't have a choice what our menu would be, but I had a choice of whether I would eat it or not. We could not choose something different to eat just because we didn't like it. We had to eat what was served or go hungry. So, my choice was to eat it or be hungry.

Well today things are much different with life. There are so many options to choose from. Take for instance ice cream. I only knew about vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry when I was a kid. Now there are so many different flavors that I cannot name them all. The choice is still mine.

Now there are consequences for every choice we make whether we want to make a choice or not. The biggest effect on our lives is the choice we make concerning salvation. In the book of Deuteronomy, God says, "I set before your life and death". While it's left up to us to make the choice, he recommends that we choose life.

If we choose permanent life, we will live forever with the Lord. If we choose term life, we will live a short time with just these things here on earth. So, we alone have to choose for ourselves what our verdict will be. We can choose to follow others, or we can choose to follow Christ.

In John 3:16-17, Jesus declares, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. And God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.". Remember God gave you a choice, but the choice is yours.
