The Brier Creek Artillery consisting of two six-pounder Field cannons, one eight-pounder Field Cannon and two six-pounder Naval Cannon traveled with the East Fall Line Region Skunk Brigade Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution to St. Simons Island to participate in the annual 248th Anniversary Frederica Naval Action event of the American Revolutionary War on Saturday, April 18. In the event, our five cannons fired three rounds each for a total of 15 rounds. THE PATRIOTS WON AGAIN. The Brier Creek Artillery had a special treat today in that Past President General of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution Mike Tomme fired one of the 6-pounder cannons. Besides Compatriot Mike, we had Alton McCloud of the Little River Chapter, Dess Smith III of the Wiregrass Chapter, Lee Herron of the Brier Creek Chapter, Don Bazemore of the Brier Creek Chapter, Bernard Martin of the Brier Creek Chapter, Cam Quick of the Wiregrass Chapter, Applicant Clayton Boyer of the Wiregrass Chapter and Commander of the Brier Creek Artillery Steve Burke of the Wiregrass Chapter participating in the Event.
