Terwilliger named DEA STAR Student

Addalyn Terwilliger is the daughter of Allie Miller and Paul Terwilliger and has been a student at David Emanuel Academy since K-4.

Addalyn’s awards include Honor Roll for the year, highest academic average in grades 9-11, and academic excellence in numerous subjects. She is a recipient of the Georgia Certificate of Merit, the scholar athlete award, is a member of the SAT 1100 Club, and recipient of the AP achievement award. She has also received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence every year and was recently named Exchange Club Youth of the Year for DEA. Addalyn is dual enrolled at East Georgia State College.

Addalyn served as class president her freshman year, vice-president her junior year, and class secretary her senior year. She is a member of Beta Club and currently serves on the Citizen’s Bank of Swainsboro Student Advisory Board.

In athletics, Addalyn has participated in varsity cheerleading, softball, basketball, soccer, and track. In cheerleading Addalyn was selected as co-captain and an All Star her senior year. She was also selected as an All Star in softball her senior year. Addalyn was the recipient of the Coach’s Award in basketball her sophomore and junior years and in soccer her junior year.

Addalyn enjoys playing sports and spending time with family and friends.

Addalyn plans to continue her studies at East Georgia State College then transfer to Georgia Southern University to obtain her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, working toward her goal of becoming a pediatrician.

Addalyn states that during the 4 years Mrs. Campbell was her math teacher, “she not only taught me math problems, but she also taught me valuable life lessons that I will never forget. Mrs. Campbell was always willing to help her students whenever they needed it and always did with a smile.”

Of her selection as DEA’s STAR Teacher, Mrs. Donna Campbell points out that Addalyn is a very motivated student. “She would ask questions for clarification during class and outside class, if needed.” Demonstrating Addalyn’s high level of commitment to learning, she adds, “Addalyn restates or summarizes concepts to make sure she understands. She has great time management skills which are demonstrated by her ability to balance academics and athletics.”
