Tapley receives Distinguished Service Medal

The Wiregrass Chapter, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution, held its monthly meeting at the New China Restaurant on Thursday, March 9, at 6:30 p.m. With President Wilder Smith, Jr. presiding, they had 16 in attendance including three guests. The highlight of their meeting was the presentation of the "Fred D. Womack, Chapter Distinguished Service Medal". This medal is presented solely by the Wiregrass Chapter President and can only be given once a year, and a recipient can only receive this medal once. This medal represents the outstanding work that our Wiregrass Chapter member has done for Patriots of the American Revolution. The recipient this year of the "Fred D. Womack Chapter Distinguished Service Medal is Compatriot Johnny Edwin Tapley. Their program for the meeting was presented by Compatriot Hu Daughtry of the Mill Creek Chapter in Statesboro. Hu's program was on "Who is Kemp Creech". Hu and his wife, Susan, live in Metter.
