Tanya Lane, a member of the Emanuel County Board of Education, representing District 4 is seeking reelection. A 1991 graduate of Georgia Southern University, she has served on the board for eight years.
Tanya and her husband, Rusty Lane, are co-owners of South Auction and Lane Storage. They have three children — Morgan, 26, a graduate of Emanuel County Institute in Twin City, and twins Eli and Dicey, currently in the eighth grade at ECI. With children actively enrolled in the school system, Tanya maintains a close, day-to-day connection to the schools, regularly visiting campuses and assisting teachers, administrators, and parents when asked.
In her role on the board, Tanya has been involved in overseeing the school system's budget and operational decisions. She is a frequent point of contact for families navigating school-related concerns, often helping connect parents with educators and school leadership.
Tanya believes that strong schools rely on the contributions of every employee — from teachers and administrators to bus drivers, lunchroom staff, and custodians — and she works to ensure all members of the school community feel valued and supported.
Beyond her board service, Tanya has been an active member of the Swainsboro Rotary Club for 13 years. She has also helped with fundraisers like the Wounded Warriors Banquet and the Pine Tree Festival Pageant. During her tenure as club president, she led the club's participation in the Preston Johnson Speech Contest. In the club's first year competing, a Swainsboro High School student won first place at the district level.
In closing Lane stated “Please go to the poll and vote. Every vote counts.”
