There comes a time in life when we all stand at the edge of something new.
Maybe it’s a new job, moving somewhere different, going back to school, starting a business or finally pursuing something we’ve always wanted to do. Whatever it is, taking that first big step can be intimidating.
It would be nice if life came with a guarantee that everything would work out exactly as planned. Unfortunately, it doesn’t.
Taking a chance means accepting that things might not go perfectly. We might make mistakes. We might struggle. We might even discover that the path we chose isn’t the one we were meant to stay on.
But what if we never take the step at all?
Sometimes, the fear of making the wrong decision keeps us from making any decision. We become comfortable where we are, even when we know there might be something better waiting for us.
The truth is, growth rarely happens when we’re completely comfortable.
Big steps are called big steps for a reason. They’re not always easy. If they were, everyone would take them without thinking twice.
But there is something exciting about doing something that scares you a little. It means you’re trying. You’re growing. You’re giving yourself the opportunity to discover what you’re capable of.
And maybe the step you take won’t lead exactly where you expected. Maybe it will lead somewhere even better.
So, if there’s something you’ve been thinking about doing, maybe this is your sign to stop overthinking it.
Take the class. Apply for the job. Start the project. Chase the dream.
You don’t have to know exactly where the road will lead before you take the first step.
Sometimes, you just have to take a deep breath and go for it.
