Swainsboro High School visual arts students, taught by Mrs. Shelly Joyce, participated in the annual Georgia Farm Bureau Art Calendar Contest. The contest provides students with the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents while highlighting the importance of agriculture in Georgia.
Original artwork was submitted by students on 8.5 x 11-inch white paper. Using either black and white or color, they could choose from a range of media, including graphite, charcoal, pastel, chalk, colored pencil, pen and ink, ballpoint pen, or mixed media suitable for printing. It was required that all contest entries be entirely hand-drawn.
At the county level, Swainsboro High School students received top honors, with all Emanuel County winners coming from SHS. Rayleigh Hutcheson claimed first place and will advance to the district competition, where her work will be judged among other county winners from across the district. Second place went to Landon Beal, while Karmen Wood secured third.
If selected as the district winner, Rayleigh Hutcheson’s artwork will be featured in the Georgia Farm Bureau 2026–2027 calendar, which is distributed statewide.
These talented students have made Swainsboro High School exceptionally proud through their achievements. As Rayleigh advances to the district competition, the school community extends its best wishes for her continued success.
