Recently, Swainsboro High School celebrated National FFA Week. The festivities featured a variety of activities that highlighted agriculture, leadership, and student involvement. Students engaged in themed dress-up days, and exciting events designed to promote the importance of agriculture and the FFA organization's role.
“Stationed by the Flag” kicked off the week on Monday, with students donning American flag-inspired attire. On Tuesday, Career Day followed, as students dressed as agricultural professionals of their choice to highlight the diverse opportunities within the agriculture industry. The excitement continued on Wednesday, when Official Dress Day invited FFA members to wear their Official FFA Dress or blue and yellow, representing the organization and its enduring traditions.
Thursday’s Thank a Farmer Day followed, with students wearing overalls, plaid, and boots to recognize the hard work and dedication of farmers, before a cornhole tournament wrapped up the day after school. On Friday, the celebration concluded with FFA Day, when members wore their chapter shirts and enjoyed a member-appreciation treat during lunch.
In addition to these themed days, as part of the week’s activities, Swainsboro High School FFA members also visited Mr. Harper’s 3rd-grade agriculture class, where they helped students learn about dairy production. The elementary students participated in a hands-on butter-making activity, allowing them to see how milk can be turned into a dairy product they enjoy.
Further enhancing school spirit, students also participated in a fun FFA emblem scavenger hunt throughout the school during the week.
Swainsboro High School proudly celebrates its outstanding FFA members, who promote agriculture, leadership, and service while inspiring and educating younger students about the significance of these vital values.
