Swainsboro Elementary School honors Veterans with luncheon and program

Swainsboro Elementary School hosted a special Veterans Day Luncheon on Tuesday, November 12, in the school library to honor local veterans for their service. The event’s luncheon format reflected SES’s desire to “serve” veterans in the same spirit these men and women have served our country.

During the luncheon, students presented a short program featuring a brief history of each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. Many presenters had personal connections to the military, with family members who have served or are currently serving. SES teachers and students also contributed photos of their loved ones, which played in a slideshow behind the speakers throughout the event.

Ms. Dawn Davis remarked, “It was our honor to bring light to the men and women who have dedicated their lives to serving our country. Their sacrifices reflect true ‘service above self.’ Many of these quiet heroes walk among us without recognition, yet they would serve again without hesitation. Honoring them on Veterans Day and every day is a privilege.”

Swainsboro Elementary School expresses its gratitude to every veteran who attended and to all who have served the nation with courage and dedication.
