Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Susie Scott Overstreet, age 84, of
Swainsboro, on Monday, January 18, 2021, at Emanuel Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors, Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel on Thursday, January 21, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating and Rev. Joe Bedgood assisting. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Dellwood. CDC social distancing guidelines will be observed and masks are encouraged for your safety and the health and well-being of others.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Overstreet, Jeff Overstreet, and other family members.
A lifelong resident of Dellwood, Susie was the daughter of the late George R. and Mary Edna Frankle Scott. She began playing the piano at the age of 13 and through the years, she played
for both Dellwood Methodist Church and Dellwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Overstreet also enjoyed being a Sunday School Teacher for both churches. She cherished being a mother and grandmother.
When she was able, Susie thoroughly enjoyed walking outdoors. Mrs. Overstreet and her daughter Jan walked many a mile together. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack
Chandler Overstreet, Sr.; son, Jack “Jackie” Chandler Overstreet, Jr.; and a sister, Mary Ellen
Meeks.
Survivors include daughter, Jan Overstreet Lamb (Greg Gillis) of Swainsboro; son, Todd Scott “Scottie” Overstreet of Dellwood; brother, Chris Scott (Annette) of Dellwood; four grandchildren, Jake Overstreet, Shay Overstreet, Shannah Peebles, and Wes Fields; several great-grandchildren.
